What It Looks Like

Wispy, grey-white fluffy growth that spreads over substrate surface like cobwebs

Recommended Action

If caught early, spray directly with 3% hydrogen peroxide. Increase FAE dramatically. May survive if treated immediately. Isolate from other grows.

How to Identify
  • 1Much wispier/fluffier than mycelium
  • 2Grows faster than healthy mycelium
  • 3Grey tint vs bright white mycelium
  • 4Floats above substrate surface
  • 5Collapses when misted (mycelium stays firm)
Common Causes
  • High humidity with poor air circulation
  • Stagnant air in fruiting chamber
  • Contaminated casing layer
  • Over-misting without FAE
Prevention Tips
  • Maintain good fresh air exchange
  • Do not let humidity stagnate
  • Use clean casing materials
  • Balance misting with air flow
